Edward Saiz, was born to this world in May of 1989. He fought bravely even as a baby-to overcome the effects of premature birth and pneumonia. He was released from the hospital with oxygen and within weeks-had become a strong and healthy baby.

Edward had an IQ of nearly 140, making him a gifted/talented student and near genius. He fought the little boxes that school wanted to force on him, to rise as an Individual who had beat the system and maintained his spark of life and individuality. He graduated in 2007.

Near to midnight on August 25, 2007, Edward's car was struck in a county road intersection that was not marked by stop signs, by another teen driver with two passengers. He was killed instantly. Trapped in the vehicle for nearly an hour and a half-Edward, this brilliant and vital young man-would leave behind a family that will never get over the loss.

Edward did nothing wrong that night. He wore his seat-belt. He was traveling at beneath the speed limit. He was not intoxicated or under the influence of anything. Wrong place. Wrong time.

Our lives will never be the same-because of the choices made by an inexperienced teen driver with two other passengers that struck and killed our son/brother.

"The Eve of Sadness and Loss"

Light the beacons

set afloat upon the waters

This is the Eve of Sadness and Loss.

Yet still they move,

so slow and solemn

Carrying him, ever towards his Home.

Sweet the call of the Barge,

as it moves upon the waters-

I sing,

I remember,

I shall never forget.

Inlaid into your armor

strength and valor,

honor to the courageous,

this I give to you,

My son.

While you slumber so serene

call my name,

I will hear you.

Sweet the call of the Barge,

as it moves upon the waters-

I sing,

I remember,

I shall never forget.

Unto Time which holds the hour

and to the Circle which holds the days,

the beacons eternally light the way.

Onward in solemnity,

so softly they go-

carrying my heart to be with you.

Sweet the call of the Barge,

as it moves upon the waters-

I sing,

I remember,

I shall never forget.
