Katrina was taken from us very unexpectedly in the early morning hours of February 22, 2011. She was driving on a partially snow/ice covered road when her vehicle hit a patch of ice and began to slide sideways when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle that hit her was a pickup truck carrying a heavy payload and traveling at an excessive rate of speed. It was a total disregard for anyone who was on the road with him in those early morning hours. Sadly he killed our daughter and our unborn grandson.
Katrina was a 2010 graduate of Marysville High School. She was attending St. Clair County Community College and was aspiring to be a Register Nurse (RN),she was employed by Marwood Nursing and Rehab as a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) where she was respected and loved by both the staff and the residents. Katrina was also expecting her first child (a boy), in late summer of 2011. She also has two younger sisters Carly and Alexandria who looked up to their older sister and admired her. She was someone they could talk to, confide in or just laugh with. Katrina will be remembered for her sweet smile (dimples included), contagious laugh, and natural beauty.
Katrina had many, many friends. She loved spending time with all of them. She loved to shop, she loved purses, and is best known for wearing flip flops all year round, even in a foot of snow!! Katrina was with her best friend Krysten on Saturday February 19, 2011 and told Krysten that this was the happiest that she had ever been, and she was getting very excited about the baby. Krysten and Katrina did one of their midnight shopping trips. Katrina wore a “Kermit the Frog” hat and big sunglasses through the whole store! They had so much fun, silly girls!! I am so happy they had the opportunity to spend that time together.
