Samantha left us on January 25, 2008 on her way home from college for a Dr. Appointment. The day was very cold yet an ordinary winter day in Northern, IL. Roads seemed fine. Yet Samantha hit a small patch of black ice, which sent her into oncoming traffic where she was T-boned. The police officers made it a point to find me at the hospital to tell me “Rest assured, she did nothing wrong! She was in her seat belt was not on her phone and was not playing with the radio” So one can do everything right and still lose their life.
Samantha was a kind and loyal friend. She had a spunky personality and lived life to it’s fullest. At home she was the electricity of the house. She was the middle of 3 children. And family meant everything to her. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends. Her friends called her Big Booty Batjes. In her younger years she took dance classes and was a Jr. Cheerleader.
Samantha was a very giving person. She was a proponent of Organ Donation. Even wrote her first College Paper on the subject. She informed us prior to her death that she wanted to be an Organ Donor as a result. She saved 3 people, donating her Liver, 2 Kidneys and her Pancreas. We were blessed to not have to second guess our decisions and have been blessed to meet 2 of the recipients.
Samantha has left her 2 parents, older sister Heather, and younger brother Eddie behind, and although we know that she will always be with us, she is missed so much everyday. We Love her, we are proud of her and wish she were here. We love you Samalama!
