Tyler was an amazing young man! He loved people! He became a volunteer fire fighter when he was 16. Firefighting became his passion. He graduated from Kent Island High School in 2012. His dream was to become a full-time firefighter and save lives.
Tyler’s dream came to an end on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 when he was a passenger in a car – riding along with his 3 friends on a rural country road. The car was going way too fast as they approached a slight bend in the road – in a 45 mph zone. The driver lost control of the car, slid sideways and was t-boned by a Ford Focus SUV. All the boys were killed instantly.
The firefighters / EMT’s who responded to the call were Tyler’s brothers from the Kent Island Fire Department. They were devastated to learn that one of their own was gone. They honored Tyler with a full fallen firefighters funeral to help us all say “Goodbye” to one of the most loving, unselfish young men we will ever have the joy of having in our lives – even for such a short time.
Tyler’s strong spirit and amazing love for people has helped to bring our community together in support of each other and the friends and family of 4 friends lost too soon.
